Michael Cartossa - Elementary Assistant Coach

Michael Cartossa New Fairfield resident for 19 years. Assisting coaching NFF youth wrestling 2 years. Wrestled and graduated from Alfred State Collage (SUNY). Wrestled for 7 years 4 of which were varsity from Somers NY.

Michael currently holds a USAW Bronze coach certification.

Tom Peterson -Middle School Head Coach/Youth Assistant

Current: Has coached wrestling for the past 16 yrs, various levels & with various programs. Bronze certification from USA wrestling. Physical Education teacher in New York. Has coached several other sports in the past. Competes in Triathlons

College: 4 year Collegiate football player and 2 year starter for Cortland. Recipient of several awards for performance and academics.

HS: Captain of sectional championship football team. 4 year starter for sectional champion varsity wrestling team. Played varsity baseball also (his school did not have lacrosse).

Tom believes that winning is a byproduct that happens as a result of things being done right. He is very excited to be a part of the dedicated team of wrestling coaches at New Fairfield and can't wait to see the wrestlers progress through their season and career.





Coach DeBellis - Elementary Head Coach 

Scott DeBellis had been a resident and New Fairfield community member for the past 10 years. Scott is currently a coach with the New Fairfield Falcons U8 program and has served as a coach with the NFSC for several years. Scott has been an educator for the past 14 years and has served as a physical education teacher, varsity football coach, head varsity wrestling coach and Athletic Director with the NYC PSAL.

Scott is currently an Assistant Principal with the Tuckahoe School District in Westchester County, NY. Scott is a USA Wrestling Bronze Certified coach and is also certified in CPR/AED, First Aid and Heads Up Concussion. Scott graduated from the Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY where he was a member of the varsity football, wrestling and baseball teams. Scott earned All-State honors as a defensive lineman. He also placed 2nd in NYS Private School Championships and competed in the National Private School Wrestling Championships held in Lehigh, PA


. Scott went on to play college football for the University at Albany and was a member of the 1998 EFC Championship Team.

Scott has always promoted sportsmanship and believes that athletes who build a strong foundation of fundamental skills in a sport will experience the greatest chance of success.


Coach Whipple Middle School Assistant Coach

Gary Whipple and his family were moved from W.Va. to New Fairfield by Gary's employer in 1986; he has been retired since 2002.

His son wrestled in W.Va. starting at the age of 5, and Gary was drafted as an Assistant by the Head Coach when he correctly identified his left hand.

Soon after the Whipples moved to New Fairfield, Gary started the NFWC at the request of then High School Coach Bob Serrano. He has coached or helped coach New Fairfield Mites, Elementary and Middle School wrestlers. He was USAWCT Chairman and Cadet Director for a number of years, and worked with Danbury Administrators to start the western CT wrestling league.

He holds a USAW Coach's Bronze certification and has held lower level certifications as a referee and a pairing official.
